1/8 Bit Plastic Stopper

Hi All,
I’m new to the carving community and just had my first Oopsi.
I was carving something out and the part broke lose during carving. Made a mess, but no damage to the machine phew
However, the Teal plastic stopper on one of my 1/8 bits broke loose, the bit looks fine otherwise. Can I still use it, or is this plastic stopper crucial to hold it in place?
I know 1/4" bits don’t have these, but then again I am using an adapter on the DeWalt spindle to use 1/8" bits.

You can go ahead and use it just make sure it is not bent.
