$366 on ebay

Having the laser on my main work table is temporary (that’s the same table I originally assembled my X-Carve on). The laser will probably end up on that table in the back corner of the picture and the stuff already there will be relocated.

mhhh ok !!!
many thanks, I feel reassured !
well will search co2 laser instead of jtech

Be careful. It’s habit forming!

Does that one double as a tattoo and tanning bed?

Haha. Exactly.

I second that! They are almost as bad as potato chips, can’t have just one. I now own 2 K40’s and a J-Tech!

:joy:

It would be my creamatorium, literally, not a casket.

Still love the k40 and Xcarve combo outcomes… https://youtu.be/qjOfN67sD4g

Checking back in on this … people still happy with the eBay K40? I need to upgrade from the 3.8W Jtech laser to something that I can use to cut thicker stock (1/8th inch mostly, single pass perferably) and engrave, and I’m not sure I’m ready for a Full Spectrum or something more $$ quite yet.

I easily have enough orders to pay the $400+ upgrades for the K40.

Just wondering if there’s anyone who has a new \ different opinion, or anything more to share.

Thanks in advance.

Mine is still going strong and haven’t had to replace anything yet https://youtu.be/5amFWHPEwVo

I was looking at those identical gauges last week for an X-Carve controller I’m going to be working on.

I may have to buy one of these lasers so that I can make equipment panels. Thanks for posting that.

I was reading that the K40 is hard to focus/align. Have you had any issues like that?

I’m a bit confused about this. What am I missing? They are both about the same price, but the one that’s on e-bay seems 10 times more powerful. So aside from a bigger work area for the X-Carve version, why would you buy the X-Carve version instead of the stand alone version? Since the one on e-bay is 10 times more powerful I’m assuming it will cut deeper, and cut more materials, correct?

Can the Jtech cut acrylic/wood? If so how thick can it go? Or is the Jtech just for engraving?

Just to be clear I’m not looking at the K40, I’m looking at this one which appears to be much better;

Also, how hard is it to mount the laser? (I’m referring to going back and forth between the laser and the spindle).

Thanks for helping me to sort this out :grinning:

It all depends on how much you enjoy fiddling with stuff. You cannot beat the price of the K40 laser and yes after a few extra dollars, you can have a very capable but somewhat limited machine. If you want something to work out of the box, your starting price will be about $5000.00. What is your time worth and what is your level of skill? Here is great G+ group that has a lot of information and a few of the people you see here visit from time to time. https://plus.google.com/communities/118113483589382049502
Bottom line, spend a little money and see if it is something you will use or spend a lot of money and find out that it is not what you really want/need.

Has anyone experience with the laser from laseraxe?
It is a 7 watt laser and the price is the same like the jtech one, but you have a separate machine.
I really want to buy a laser, I like the jtech laser but this seams to be more powerfull.

there is a guy on instagram (tomcraftswales) who bought one of these and has completely removed it from the casing to make it have a larger bed and cuts and engraves all kind of stuff

This forum is becoming PATHETIC. No more free advertising of what the xcarve can do from me!
