Adding a bevel to a shape

Hello, I am cutting out this shape on my xCarve Pro.
Simple enough but after I cut out the shape, I want to add a bevel around the perimeter of the shape.
My initial cut will be outside the path cut.
Can I just change to a 45 degree bit and re-run the job, stopping when the depth is to my liking?
Just looking for any tips as I’ve never done this before.
Thanks for any help!

I like your thoughts…seems simple enuf to try.
Give it a shot, and let us know.

I have made beveled guitar pickguards. I use a 45 bit on the bevels. These are cut “on” the line to the depth of the thickness of the material. Then with another file, I go back to zero and go in and cut the pickguard out " with a straight bit “outside the line” a bit below the stock. . I use double sided tape to hold the plastic in place.
