Anybody know what type of wood this is?

My guess is Bocote.

Had to help my wife’s grandfather chop wood yesterday… felt bad he was cutting up some nice walnut. He also had some other wood that I really liked it had red, green, and dark brown in the grain. don’t know what that one was.

Some species of wood, as they decay or “Spalt” will develop different colors depending upon their chemical makeup, where they grew and what was taken in during that growth.

Sadly In the natural form most woods that do this will eventually lose the wild coloring as time goes on and it’s accelerated by exposure to sunlight and UV light.
