Can’t use a V Bit?
Thanks for all the help and feedback… I’m still working on optimizing the toolpaths, but I find that the best compromise is to crop out each path for the corners like this (not quite done refining it):
Keep in mind that I’m tiling about 14 of these at a time, so doing the tool change once to the smaller cutter isn’t that big of a deal in terms of time cost.
Here is where I’m at so far in machining time… I expect to shave off a couple more minutes overall once I get my final speeds/feeds dialed in and clean up the detail pass a bit more.
I have just used a vbit carve then used the feature to use an end mill to cut the larger areas.
Here is a pic of what I did this on.
The bits I used were:
2 Flute spiral up 1/32
30° Vbit (30499-01)
The crack in the wood was from my hold down which was a nail in the end of a board. I will not do that again with these round discs. But then again this was a test.
