Bottom of cuts aren't flat

Any ideas about what is causing this? The Z axis doesn’t seem to move at all when this happens. It isn’t anything to do with the design because it happens in some form on nearly all my projects.

Loose Z axis (play between the pulley and the motor plate)

Or it could be loose Z Vwheels

What type of bit are you using? If you want smooth bottoms, you should be using a downcut bit.

@JustinBusby I’ll have to check both of those tonight.

@TonyCogdill I mainly use downcut bits but this also happens with straight-cut bits.

Did you check the angle of the router/spindle? It has to be at 90° with the surface your cutting.

did you ever solve this issue? I have this happening every time I try to carve.
