My new little xcarve came with a z probe. It did not work out of the box. I pulled the pin out of the base and the end of the pin stayed in, I suspect that connector was soldered and got too hot and made the wire very brittle. The hole is perfect for a 8-32 tap. I crimped an eye connector and attached it with an 8-32 x 1/2" machine screw. Works great.
