Cheap material for led sign base

Hi making some bottom edge lit acrylic signs with a wood base. Going to make a lot of them and would like ideas on a base material that I do not have to speed lots of time
Sanding and painting. Ideas? Prefer the base cost to be under 5.00 each

For a non-wood base give Corian a go. Round edges over on router table and a quick polish and your done.

I use maple. It has a tighter grain than Oak, very hard, and looks great stained, painted, or left raw.

Do you know anywhere online that sells .75 thick corian cheap?
