A lot of collective knowledge here. I made a couple of plaques for some coaches at the high school I work at. Everything went great until I clear coated and left overnight to dry. Went out this morning and some of the cardboard I left the plaque on peeked off and is stuck to the plaque. I know I shouldn’t ha e left it in cardboard and will not be doing that again BUT is there any way to save this? I rubbed some olive oil on it to get the cardboard off but part of the stain and clear coat cans off as well. Any help?
sand it down and re coat it.

clean the cardboard off with a razor then restain any bits that tore through. Should be fine.
