Will my 1/4" collet work with metric bits?

Which router do you have? You can get metric collets.

Makita 701C collets in Metric sizes:
DeWalt 611 collets in Metric sizes: (the right ones for model DWP611 is in the middle section of this page)
I have a 6mm V-bit that I tried to use in my 1/4" collet and it slipped giving uneven depth in my project. I can get 6mm collets for my Kress router, but mostly I have been more careful to make sure my bits are 1/4"

No it will not work 1/4 and 6mm are diferent sizes will not clamp to 6mm
