Compatibility, Easel vs Shapeoko 3

Can Easel be used with Shapeoko 3

Regards,

Jean

You can use Easel to create a design, generate a toolpath, and export gcode. Then you can use whatever software you’d like to send the gcode to the SO3.

Yes, they should be, unless Inventables has specifically attempted to disable the communication — both machines use Grbl.

The one area if incompatibility is machine setup. Easel will overwrite the SO3 settings for the Z-axis (and others?) if you perform an initial configuration. The SO3 uses a direct belt drive for the Z-axis, while the X-carve uses a screw or Acme/trapezoidal rod. These settings have to be restored: http://docs.carbide3d.com/article/38-shapeoko-3-default-grbl-settings

You should also calibrate for belt stretch: http://docs.carbide3d.com/article/42-how-to-calibrate-the-machine-for-belt-stretch
