I made this game from scrap maple hardwood flooring, and my kids love it. The tiles are 1.6" square.

I used the Dewalt 611 to make the tiles, and a 1/8" 4-flute upcut bit I got on Amazon. Feed/speed information is all located on the project page, as well as a link to the Easel project with all 24 tiles AND the handy dandy tray.
