Coolest thing I have seen all week

How about a cordless hand drill that contains a few servos and and a 6 axis accelerometer so it can keep the drill bit perfectly perpendicular to the work surface when you need it to. It would use the servos to adjust the back of the motor shaft a quarter inch in any direction, It would be like having a drill press in your hand.

But I really want all the gee-willikers I can get!

** Shaper Update

Hey Shaper fans! My name is Joe Hebenstreit (https://twitter.com/joeheb)=
and I hit the ground running as CEO a few months ago. We’re on a mission=
to make making easier=2C and I couldn’t be more excited to be leading the=
team that will bring Shaper tools out of the lab and into your hands. We’=
ve been busy building Shaper Origin prototypes and putting them through th=
eir paces=2C and we’re looking forward to sharing our journey with you.

** Jeremy Blum joins as EE Lead!

In team news=2C I’m thrilled to announce that Jeremy Blum (https://twitter=
=2Ecom/sciguy14) joined us recently to lead our electrical engineering effor=
ts. Jeremy was previously an electrical architecture / engineering lead fo=
r Google Glass. He has designed and built prosthetic hands=2C structure-cl=
imbing robots=2C 3D printers=2C and home automation systems. His videos an=
d book have taught electrical engineering and embedded design to millions=
of people around the world. With a passion for building things and buildi=
ng things that help other people build things=2C Jeremy is ideally suited=
to help lead hardware development at Shaper.

** Installing a Kreg=C2=AE bench clamp with Origin

We’re continually throwing new challenges at our Origin prototypes. One of=
the things we’re really excited about is the ability to easily integrate=
off-the-shelf hardware into project designs. It’s especially fun to be ab=
le to work outside the bounds of fixed bed constraints of more typical CNC=
router configurations. Check out this video of Noah installing the basepl=
ate of a Kreg clamp directly into our shop table.

** Join us!

We’re looking for creative engineers and designers with a passion for buil=
ding. Check out the Jobs (Shaper Tools) page on our we=
bsite for open positions and get in touch with us - we’d love to hear why=
you’re #shapermade (https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/shapermade/) !

I will be eagerly awaiting for your product to come to market!

I am currently looking for investors

You forgot the extra cost of the smoke machine to accentuate the laser beams!

I would put lasers of the hammer.

Smart hammers never need adjusting

All you need is one of these - and Angus’ lead weights.

New coolest thing of the week

I think I have enough spare parts from the X-Carve to build this!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/879074320/iboardbot-the-internet-controlled-whiteboard-robot?ref=category_recommended

Oh sure, I just told the wife no more robot projects after the CNC machine is done - at least until the bathroom is re-done. Will have to build this one on the sly =)

I want to mount it to the front of the fridge as a way to leave messages the family will see.

It has two stepper motors (X and Y) and two servos. One servo must move the pen away from the board, but what does the other one do?

To drive the eraser perhaps?

Good thought, I forgot it can erase (somehow).

This has absolutely nothing to do with CNC but it is still the coolest thing I have seen this week month

I just wish it would yell “WHY” when the guy knocks it over on purpose!

I was waiting for it to turn around and pop the guy in the kisser for moving it’s box and then pushing it down.

When it was getting back up it almost looked like it might be a little pi$$ed!

We seem to have a huge lead over the Japanese

I was trying to remember who wrote the three laws…

I think it would have been better if it flashed a light in his face and said “target identified, Skynet updated”.
