The photo doesn’t even do it justice!! Looks like polished Birdseye and this is straight off the machine!
On another note…be careful of broken pieces of a staple. I wondered what that loud buzzing sound was…lol

I have a bunch of hickory and it will show the same medullary cell pattern along the short grain.
