DC Spindle and Inverter for X-Carve from Automation Technology

Planning an X-Carve order and to upgrade to a DC spindle. Anyone have any experience with these from Automaton Technology?

SPINDLE: 800W 1HP CNC Milling Spindle, ER11 Chuck (KL-800), Water Cooling |
INVERTER: 1.5KW VFD, Variable Frequency Drive (KL-VFD15), 110VAC input |

Aside from fitting to a DeWalt 611 mount and coolant supply, is there anything else needed on the X-Carve end?

I’m having trouble confirming what sort of spindle control might be possible with the X-Controller and this setup. Anyone have any advice?

The C controller has a pwm output that can be used as an input for a speed controller of a DC motor, and with 100% pwm as an input for on-off swith. A second output is 1-10V and needed when you use a VFD spindle controller.

VFD and Air cooled spindle

You have to have a match the VFD unit to your input voltage. There is not a way to use a 220V input VFD with a 110V standard household input by just changing a setting. You need to match the input voltage for what voltage you intend to use. You can use a setup transformer to convert your 110V into 220V (which is what the 110 VFD does in the first place). Thanks Martin. Yes, found that topic and ordered from Automation Technologies. Already have the spindle in hand and building the x-carve this week.

I think you could save a few bucks ordering the same parts from Chinese suppliers, but I read good things about customer support from Automation Technologies and figured that if there is any issue with either the VFD or spindle, I would rather deal with them.
