I recently bought the JTech 44w laser and so far have loved it. The only issue is it mounts to the left side of the router ( when looking at the machine) and if homed the laser would crash into rails. The first thing I did was just move the pins that trigger the homing switches to accommodate the laser and then change my settings for max travel distance to account for the change. I would like to keep the pins in the same place to get the maximum work area when routing and I wouldn’t mind just having the laser off while doing the initial homing. I just get scared that something is going to happen and the machine is going to crash the laser into the rails.
Here is my idea, does anyone see anything wrong with flipping the Dewalt 611 router mount upside down thus putting the holes for the laser mount on the right side? I could then just edit my Macro in Lightburn so that when I switch to laser mode the max travel distance is shortened so the laser is not crushed on the other rail.
