I read a few forum post recently where it would seem like the DeWalt 611 on setting 1 are still running a bit too fast, especially in acrylics. If you read the article carefully, this modification only allows remotely controlling the spindle speed. It does not allow you to run the router any slower.
The SuperPID modification mentioned in the article does allow you to reduce the spindle speed.

Save up for a VFD spindle. They are not cheap but those who have gotten them say good things.
I am going to get one myself. Useless to mod a router as they wear out faster than spindles designed for this type of work.
