Is there a way to replace the bristles on the dust shoe? Or can the shoe be replaced? Mine keeps clogging because some bristles are bent backward/inward and clog the intake.

It sounds like bristles brushing your project to hard, you can reattach the bristles with CA glue.
then try using it just hoovering about .125" (1/8") above your project. you should have better results using it
