What Ken Said!

ALSO it’s a good practice to set the project so that the Material Thickness is LESS than the model thickness. I see yours is perfectly equal. . This COULD cause issues with the was easel likes to round things sometimes…

Just to be safe with the toolpath generation you should set the Model thickness to 0.99" so it’s 0.01" less than the material thickness (actually if it were me carving this I’d set it to 0.97" but that’s just me…)

Technically the full rule is:
Model Size (Z) + Model Position (Z) should always be LESS Than Material Thickness (Z)

Correct In Easel 3d Workspace Roughing is ONLY performed with an Endmill type Bit. You COULD select an Endmill and USE a ball bit, however that will result in slightly more material being left behind for the finishing bit to remove than was intended with the toolpath calculation, which isn’t actually a problem at all… So IF you want to rough with a ball bit you can do that, however I’d just use an endmill since its setup for one.

Not to mention of course the tip of a ball nose isn’t moving/cutting since it is tangent to the work surface on a more than 3 axis mill you often slightly angle the tool to get better bite.
