Favorite Bits

Let’s see the difference between two V Bits. Oak Wood, motif size is 2.5" square.

Before and After.

Hmmm. Perhaps you could cut the same pattern at the same depth of cut? I can’t appreciate the difference. What are you seeing?

They’re same size, can’t you see the difference on sharp cut edges. I use to run same tool path twice to get a little better edges before. Second pattern came this clean at once.

I corrected Earwigger, here is same pattern.

Here is what I’ve got. I wasn’t even expecting this long 1/8" bit.

Hi Alan
i bought v cut 90 1/2 inch , for my cnc, vcarve, my collet was 1/8, can i upgrate to 1/2 inch, where i found 1/2 inch collet.

What kind of Spindle you have?

You can not upgrade to 1/2". Up to 1/4 for both Dewalt and 24V stock spindle.

spindle 24v
1/8 bit only

I bought 1/4 inch*1/4inch 4 flutes straight shank, is this collet 4.5 mm ER11-A fit ?

A 4.5 mm collet equals a .177 inch shank size. A quarter inch shank is .25 inches so that collet is only about .073 inches (1.85mm) to small.

You will need a .25 inch collet for a .25 inch bit (with a .25 inch shank) It should be easy to find a .25 inch ER11 collet.
