Is there something else that must be done to calibrate the xcarve after installing the $500 upgrade? I was going to level my waste board and my router plowed into it. I used the z probe and was taking less than an 1/8 of an inch as a test. There were no other objects that would have made it run that deep. I am stumped and now have to get another waste board.
Take a look at the last step in the instructions… link below… you’ll want to verify up is up and down is down, of those are revised then change the $3 per the instruction. (Don’t just change the value as many have reported not needing to… it all has to do with internal stepper motor wiring being inconsistent)
.
And you also need to adjust the $102 to the value in the instructions :
And there’s one more thing you might want to keep in the back of your mind in case you ever have to perform the machine setup after this upgrade.
I did everything just now that was listed except invert the z travel through GRBL. I switched the wiring on the controller and the travel is correct. Will this be a problem or should I switch them back and make the changes to GRBL?
Switching the wirings are just fine. That will not cause a problem
If you have future issues and call in for support it might confuse someone, but it’s operationally a perfectly fine solution.
