HDPE Speeds and Feeds

Hi, what would be a good RPM setting to start at for cutting HDPE with the 1/8 2-flute upcut fishtail bit? I’m just looking to use the recommended settings in Easel which are 381 mm/min feed rate and 1mm depth per pass. I’ve tried plastics before but they always seemed to melt and stick to the bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1 on the spindle, always. The x-carve can’t move fast enough to keep up with that.

The 1 flute bit is better. I’ve had success with HDPE with 2000mm/min and 2mm depth per pass.

Melting plastic = RPM too high AND/OR feed rate too slow.

With the Dewalt/Xcarve and RPM, if in doubt go always minimum RPM

I’ve had best luck with an upcut bit and speed set to 1 (no reason for more). Just note when doing the 2-color the thickness of the “color’ layer is pretty thin (0.05” if I recall, so if you dig too far down in the white the next color layer bleeds through)
