shallow passes and increase the feed rate. You should be getting small chips when carving. Keep router on 1. It may take a little experimenting to get is right.
Get cast acryllic and not extruded, the extruded one melt at lower temperatures.
In a pinch, go faster/shallow and add some water to the surface to aid cooling.
Also have your router rpm as slow as it will run.
I have cut a lot of cast acrylic. Router on 1 and default Easel settings for cast. Not a single issue.
