Help: Fengrave Basic Tutorial

There is a tutorial on the v-carve settings here: F-Engrave v-carving tutorial
There is also a PDF version: F-Engrave v-carving tutorial (PDF)
Here is the image used in the tutorial: Tutorial Image

There are a couple of things that need to be updated in the tutorial but you should be able to follow it.

Things that need updates:

  1. The bounding box now turns on automatically.
  2. The search distance option is now also automatically set.

Thank Phil. I was actually wondering how you removed so much material using Fengrave? I would like to avoid cutting out the large areas of the horns with a v-bit.

Ex. The outer edges of the horn pockets will be v-carved and the bottom will be flat, but I’d like to hog away most of the inner material with a larger bit to save on cutting time. Would I use Fengrave to straight bit cut, then clean up with a smaller straight bit, then v-bit clean up and that would just do most of the v-bit cutting? Or v-bit cut, clean up with my larger straight bit, and then v-bit clean up?

I just don’t understand how to stack the processes… Thanks for all your help guys.
