How to cut shape completely out?

If your part has holes, you can put the holes in first and use those to clamp the part down. You can also screw a larger piece of wood to the back, being careful not to put the screws where you are going to cut, and clamp the larger piece down. You then outside fully and it even helps with the rip out as the back side of what you are cutting is supported by the board under it.

Has anyone tried hot glue to the back? I read it once but never tried it.
