When you’re just starting out, if you have no CNC experience at all, sticking with Easel is the best way to get up and running quickly. Easel is Inventables’ own software, available for XCarve owners for free (there’s are Pro features that are available that you have limited access to each month, after which you can pay for continued access, but the basic software is enough to keep you going for a while and it’s free).

Easel is web-based, and the link is https://easel.inventables.com/ . Go start a new project and play around with it. To import clipart into Easel, you will need to click on Import > Image Trace, then select the file you want to carve and adjust settings until it looks like you want, then import it.

If you get stuck, one of our members here has a Youtube channel where he makes XCarve tutorial videos. This one is how to bring in a clipart file: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnZhGkmXQtE

Dont worry about that yet, just learn to use Easel and it will generate the code for you.

Easel have apps like Image Trace etc which more or less automate such tasks.

thanks Kimberly.
