Inconsistent text carving head goes too deep on its own

while carving text my xcarve dug in too deep not sure why it was in mid word and dropped down 1/2 inch further and kept carving the wood was planned within .01 and the head was still tight and checked prior to carving, and just finished carving another object just find before

If your Z-Axis pulley has a set screw, make sure that is tight. Make sure your belt has not lost teeth. Another thing to check would be the Z-Axis current control pot.

You might check the cut settings as well; maybe they are borderline too high?

A dull down-cut bit “could” pull into the material as well.

Set screw was loose fixed. Rehomed the machine appears fine will try again later, Good catch BrandonR_Parker.
