Laser cutting chalk board?

Has anyone had any luck cutting through chalk board? I bought some 1/4" black chalk board from Home Depot and have been trying to cut through it with my 30W laser cutter, but even with multiple passes it won’t go all the way through. I guess I could just cut plain unfinished wood first and then paint it with chalk board paint, but it would be nice to just cut the chalk board itself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve never tried cutting chalkboard, but laser cutters generally have a harder time cutting black materials due to the frequency of the laser. Try cutting the chalkboard face down. You may have to cut through the front coating by hand.
