Laser for cutting 4-5mm X-Carve

What type of laser is good for cutting 4-5 mm plywood on X-Carve
Kristian

I do my laser cutting with a dedicated laser cutter which is different from my CNC. I have a 10 Watt Roly Lasermatic and it will easily cut through 6mm plywood. Roly now has a 20 Watt too. I like the Roly because it has air assist and it has a safety enclosure.

Jtech was a popular laser that many put on their CNCs.

Be sure to use the appropriate laser safety glasses.

thx Harry
can you show me a picture of your laser please

This is the 20W version they now sell.

Does it engrave on glas and metalic too ?

The Roly lasers are diode lasers. These work well for wood and foam.

The best lasers for doing glass are the CO2 lasers.

The best lasers for metal engraving are the fiber lasers.

That said, some people have been able to mark glass with diode lasers by first coating the glass with tempra paint. There are also coatings you can apply to enable diode lasers to mark metal.
