My x axis doesn’t move. If i take the Z axis cable and plug it into the x motor it works.
What machine?
What controller?
What are you doing to make it move?
The more information you give, the easier it may be to help.
Check your X-stepper wiring with a continuity meter (ohm it)

I’m having the same problem after cleaning the machine with air compressor (done before fine)
I thought the wires may have been loose but after reseating them stil no movement on X but if I plug Z cable into the motor it jogs. What am I looking for on the multimeter?

Plug the z into the x port at the back of the X-Controller. If this doesnt move the z when x is jogged, the issue is internal to the xcontroller, unplugged xable or worse and a burned driver chip , which usualy only happens if the gantry is moved around by hand too quickly… so if you happened to be moving it around by hand, a new board is $130…
