Makita Easel suggestions

I hope this makes sense! When everything is ready and set to position and you have set X,Y, and Z in Easel, you come to a screen that asks if you have a dust port and if the spindle is on then you hit “carve” and it begins. With the new Makita upgrade there is a new section that tells you to turn the dial to one on the router. Why is that? Is it supposed to automatically adjust to the right spindle speed based on material and bit?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

The regular X-Carve with the DeWalt or Makita routers have no default control over the router’s speed. Setting the router’s speed to 1 should be pretty much all the RPMs you need for practically any material you would carve on a regular X-Carve.
