Makita router

can i use the makita router on my Xcarve if so what settings

You would need a size adapter ring like on the Shapeoko. They are apparently hard to find, there was a thread about this a few weeks ago but I saw on Thingiverse that someone had designed one that could be printed on a 3D printer.

The Makita router was my first choice just make sure you have the correct mount. I run my at speed 1 to 2

You need to shim is as its slightly smaller in diameter than the Dewalt. Otherwise its excellent.
I use speed setting 1-4 on mine, depending on the job specifics.

This is what you need… if you have access to a 3D printer.

It think eBay had some on there last time I looked.
