I need to cut this out but dont need the top part of the design, i just want it to cut straight through on the top as if i were going to continue cutting if i had tiling option. i dont know how to erase only the top of the design.

you can make a box that covers the part you dont want cut and set it at zero

Make sure that you bring your box to the top. Under edit, bring forward.

… and set the box to a 0 height
