New to V-Carving and want to make letters pop? Use a paint mask

I have used painter’s tape as a mask a couple times now and it seemed to work pretty good.

I carved the stars for a buddy. He painted the piece blue and then covered it with painter’s tape. I then carved the stars and gave it back to him. He sprayed the stars white and removed the tape. He said there was a tiny bit of paint bleeding but it was very minimal.
