Paths and svg files

I continue my exploration of the X-Carve. What I am looking for with this machine is to simply engrave my designs on the surface of the wood or lino and then ink the plate and print it. Here is one of my images that I vectorized in Illustrator. The image is exported as a negative, so the black parts must be removed from the surface. When I import it as an .svg file in Easel, I am unable to separate the parts to engrave and the parts to keep. I think I am not processing my image in the right way. I don’t need to have a big engraving depth, 1/32 is enough. But I lose all the details of the shapes. And the paths are too complex for nothing. What should I do? Thanks in advance for your help.

All I did here was use the image trace of a screenshot of your work. I selected a bit and depth.
Not sure this is any help, but it helps me learn how to do things…LOL.

OMG, is it that simple? I spent a lot of time on the file format and changing the settings for the paths. Wow! TK. I’ll try it right away. I’ll let you know if it’s ok.

When you say “iimage trace of a screenshot”, is it a svg file ?

It would not load the SVG I made in inkscape of the PNG ( screenshot), so I just tried image trace of the PNG and that worked.

I see. Perfect and simple when we know where find the solution. Now, I am in business. I will able to carve my art print projects with facility. Again thank you very much for your time.
