Plexiglass

Has anyone’s used their x-carve to ingrave on plexiglass? If so what bits have you used?

I have tried to do some plexi and it is hard to do. If you’re not careful, the friction will melt the plexi and coat the bit. You want to get your speeds and feeds right. Going too fast leads to friction and melting.

And you need chip evacuating or you chipweld

You’ll have greater success with cast acrylic because its melting point is higher.
Heat build-up is your main concern.

Go fast, go shallow at minimum RPM.
For engraving you could chaulk up a dam and have water floating, helping things from melting.
