Problem with cutout for switchplate

Designed wall plate cover but can’t seem to get the cut outs right. Material removes OK but wont perform/cut openings. Holes cut thru OK…

Changed it from clear out pocket to cut on inside of path

What material and thickness do you cut these from? Store bought cover plates usually have rounded over edges. Do you subsequently sand/route the edges to look similar?
