Selecting OAK

Hi!

Going to be doing up some Oak projects this afternoon. On Easel it does not show Oak as a selection. Which wood selection should I use and are there any other changes needed before I carve?

Thanks!!

bubinga, walnut or hard maple.

You can use the Janka Hardness Test to roughly compare the hardness of woods for selecting wood species in Easel. This will get you in the ballpark, but I recommend planning for (ie. get extra material for testing) and run test cuts and/or practice pieces on unfamiliar wood before putting an expensive chunk under the bit.

You realize it makes no difference unless you use the recommended settings right? I use birch for most just due to the display showing the clearest picture. I set my own speeds though
