Spiral Direction in Easel

Hi,

Im trying to dial in cutting a piece of closed cell polyethylene foam and have noticed that i get a cleaner edge on a fill cut when easel carves from the outside perimeter inwards.

Is there a way to force this for all parts of a cut?

Many thanks
Alex

I’m not super familiar with easel but since no one else has answered I’ll see if I can help. I have cut a lot of foam at work on a cnc router both open and closed cell and the trick is to TURN CLIMB MILLING OFF. Outside cut direction needs to be counter clockwise. How, or if you can, do that in easel I’m not sure. But that is the setting to look for.

Thankyou very much indeed!

I’ve given up with easel for this application for now (@inventables this would be a useful feature) - switched over to fusion 360 with UGS and setting conventional milling instead of climb has massively improved the results.

I owe you a beer good sir

I didn’t think it could but like I said not real familiar with easel. It really should be an option. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would be too difficult to add. Just reverse path direction. You can still pocket from inside out.

Btw I use a 2 flute low helix upcut bit. Cuts smooth as a babies bottom.
