I finally finished building my 1000mm X Carve. Ordered a Whiteside 6210 bit to surface waste board and noticed washboarding as it cut. Turns out the spindle carriage was square in the Y direction but out of square in the X direction. Could’nt find a way to adjust so I shimmed the bottom 2 screws that hold the spindle carriage to the X carriage. That seemed to fix the problem. I made 2 passes of .005 deep so the waste board is now flat. Attached is a photo of what it looks like ( I had a high spot in the center). I am very happy with the results but since I have no point of reference, is this pretty standard results?
Yup, sounds about right. Mine was a low spot. If I would have known. Would of got it without it.
