Time to recalibrate

With the colder weather setting in I thought it would be a great time to re check the calibration. Average winter temp in the shop in the winter is 60deg. and 90 in the summer. I do check the calibration about every 2 weeks during down time and it has held steady all summer give or take .03mm. Now the temp has dropped I checked the calibration Y axis shows no change at a variance of .01mm. X was out by .64mm and Z was out by .23mm. X,Y,Z are now with in .01mm. All measurements were repeted 25 times for each axis before adjustment and 25 times after. I know there are other things that affect tolerance that I have no control over like spindle and bit run out and loads applied but at least having the steppers dialed in keeps things that much closer. Thanks to JonLake for making this process simpler.

Charley Thomas’s software also has a calibration feature in it.
