With the colder weather setting in I thought it would be a great time to re check the calibration. Average winter temp in the shop in the winter is 60deg. and 90 in the summer. I do check the calibration about every 2 weeks during down time and it has held steady all summer give or take .03mm. Now the temp has dropped I checked the calibration Y axis shows no change at a variance of .01mm. X was out by .64mm and Z was out by .23mm. X,Y,Z are now with in .01mm. All measurements were repeted 25 times for each axis before adjustment and 25 times after. I know there are other things that affect tolerance that I have no control over like spindle and bit run out and loads applied but at least having the steppers dialed in keeps things that much closer.
