Unattended? Seriously?

Just saw this video on Youtube, anyone that really thinks it is OK to allow the machine to run unattended should watch this. Note: Turn down your audio before starting, the music in the video is a bit loud.

How’d the finished product turn out?

  hahahahaha I might have to give his technique a try. I’m all about saving steps :stuck_out_tongue:

It looks like he only clamped it down on one side, with just one clamp. Really surprised that did not work.

I do unattended carves all the time. Many times I do them overnight, I just don’t usually do them with something I have not carved before.

FWIW:

My Makita died on Sunday after 4years of on&off use.

I did a carving outside in the garden due to length of stock and apparently during a retract it didnt and went double down (=almost a full inch in MDF)
This overloaded the Makita RPM governor (heard pops and some smoking escaping out from the top.

Despite only needing 2s to reach the OhhCrap-button the damage was done.

However - when the RPM-governor went toast the router go to full speed. (27k)
I dont know how the stock Dewalt611 fare in a similar scenario but…food for thought…
