Updated version of Halftoner posted - V1.6

Ok yea I have looked at it so I know where to go from there. I just wanted to make sure that was right. Jason, you also said something about using mm instead of inches in an earlier post. Would that help me any here? I will try to delete that line when I get home and see how that works. Thanks guys!

it’s possible - I’ve heard of people having issues when using USG with Imperial measurement source data. If you’re more comfortable in Inches that’s fine, just switch to mm in Halftoner just before you export GCode and it should translate everything for you.

Ok thanks. I will report back and let you know

How old is it? I haven’t gotten a newer version in several months

I think mine is a little newer than that. It actso a little different but it still cuts good so I haven’t worried with it

I believe mine is 2.0 as well. For some reason mine doesn’t work that way though

I went in and edited the text file and it’s still doing the same thing not sure what I’m doing wrong here

I got it to work by saving it in mm. Pretty cool software. Thanks Jason Dorie!

Awesome - happy to hear it!

If you use UGS you have to be careful of one thing.
Do not use MM if you load a standard or when you jog what you think is 10 mm will actually be 10 inches!
UGS switches the units even though you set them before the file load.

I have driven a vbit into my waste board because of this.

Same for me… I noticed that if i am jogging it will switch from mm to " without rhyme or reason… I will stay away from UGS for a bit…

I verified it doing that only when loading a standard when using mm.
If I stick to mm even on loading gcode it works fine.

You can always use .01 to test so you do not crash any bits. :slight_smile:

Hey, sorry to wake this thread up.
@JasonDorie I finally had time to use the Halftoner v1.6 but how do I get it into Easel?
After I save the gcode, I try to load it with Easel but it tells me I have to use the correct post-processor…

Use UGS instead. You have to manually edit the g code to get it to work with easel. UGS platform works great and for long halftones carves it’s offline so you don’t have to worry about your connection dropping .

the very first line.
It says I am supposed to use some Easel post-processor

EDIT:
Error message:

@PhilJohnson
but every line looks like that!

Like I said U have to manually edit the code to get it to work with easel , UGS platform works amazingly for halftone jobs.

@FatKatOne: sure, but if the manual changes are minor, I’m ok with it. I prefer using Easel because it’s a tool I know well, whereas I don’t know UGS at all (even tried downloading and installing and found out I would need to install Java just for that…)

@PhilJohnson:
Still doesn’t work:

Here is the file if you want to try:
halftonerTest1-dots.txt (1.5 MB)

then it complains about line 2 :slight_smile:
