Using different sized router bits

Mates,
I imported a outline for a sign in easle image trace. the carve needs a 1/32 bit to get all the carve done.
The rest of the carve is just text. I can use 1/16 bit.
Can I make a copy of the carve, delete the text then carve the image with the 1/32 bit then open the copy the copy with the text, change bits and finish the carve?
What do you do if you cant get the bit out from the router, there is not enough room?
Can you mark the home spot just life the router higher then reset home and finish the carve.
I do not have vcarve yet and I have been having trouble downloading f-engrave ?
Kindly let me know if anyone has done this with success yet!

Vcarve has a free trial available 24/7.

Were is the two stage function located?

David,

My SOP is to jog out one inch, change the bit, jog back one inch, and proceed to detail carve. Of course, you will have to re-zero (Z) back down to just touching work surface (close as possible).

I’ve done hundreds of carves doing it this way. It gets to be pretty quick (and accurate).
