I am new to working with a CNC machine in general. still trying to figure out what kind of bits to use for what. sofar I am pretty good when it comes to text graving.
New challenge for me is graving photos. any suggestions how I would know best what size of bit to use?
Make sure the bit is entered correctly and check the simulation is really the best answer here.
The steeper the angle (like a 20 or 30 degree) the more forgiving it will be to a non-flat work surface compared to a 90 degree bit.
When using V bits you will need the top of the workpiece to be parallel to the spindle, personally I prefer to surface it in the CNC whenever possible, OR do this little trick with playing cards whenever surfacing is not practical…
