Where do you get your V-Bits and how often do you change them

The title pretty much says it all, but I’d like to open a conversation about where you get your v-carve bits and how do you decide when enough is enough to replace them?

I’ve picked mine up from Amazon, mostly. I use a 45-degree inclusive V most of the time, and I haven’t needed to replace it yet. I’ve got a LOT of text on it, too. I plan to replace it when the cut quality becomes too bad to use.

I bought one of these online from ToolsToday http://www.toolstoday.com/p-6015-in-tech-series-insert-v-groove-router-bit.aspx Unless I lose it, this will be the last V bit I need to buy…

Ive been using this bit on Marble, Aussie hardwoods, softwoods, ply (marine and normal), MDF and aluminium. and I’m still using the first insert (each insert has 4 cutting faces/corners).

It’s not the cheapest bit, but it is easily the best bit I have ever used. Beautiful clean, crisp and smooth cuts at pretty much any speed you choose.

I just can’t seem to get the results I want with a 90-degree inclusive, myself. I’ve tried, but it just doesn’t seem to work out right.
