Xcarve with UGS Probe error after starting cut

Hey guys, I’m wondering if you might be able to help me with a problem. I’ll try to bullet point it here:

  • I recently had to reinstall Vcarve 12 to my computer as I just got a new one. I got everything reinstalled installed the Vcarve post processor.
  • Then I saved 2 Gcodes. 1 is a profile cut out with a 3-D roughing. and the 2nd is a ball end 3-D finishing gcode.
  • I loaded them into UGS. Homed the machine no problem. (Manually, I dont use a probe) Then The 1st gcode worked fine. Cutting the profile and 3d roughing.
  • I reset the Z height when I switched the bit to the ball end no problem.
  • I launched the 3-D finishing code. The machine started fine but about 3/4 of the way through the cut the head stopped and there was a probe error on the screen.
  • Is there something in the post processing that I missed since I’m not running a Z probe? The end mill that I used for the 1st cut was a bit longer than the ball end mill that I’m using but the Z height still had plenty of room left before it would be at it’s limit.

Side note. I just homed the machine again but this time put a 10MM shim between the Z axis and switch. as to home the machine closer to the material and the finishing code worked no problem.

So at the end of the day it seems my post processor does not know the true length that my Z axis can travel.

You can change the grbl settings by typing $$ in the command line. Then $ (setting you want to change)= number you want to change it to.

Example
$$
$132=300
