The “jog” test revealed that my “Y” axis was opposite to intuitive “up” and “down”. This caused the spindle to behave what I thought was erratic. But when I saw the test letters, I could see that the test word I was cutting was a mirror image on the “Y” axis. The fix was to simply unplug and replug in the Y1 and Y2 wire sets on the X Controller.
