Z axis feed wrong direction after probing

New controller setup, Homing work great, Probing seems pretty good all feeding correctly. however in cut it positions above the part then feed in wrong direction in Z axis. stops then rapid into part

Did you set it up through easel? If not, maybe you want to.

Situation resolved. for some reason the changes i made in the easel setup did not take until i rebooted everything several times. Not sure why but all seems good for now

Situation has returned.
Homes OK but after Probing it will either start to travel Z axis plus direction until it hit stop. Then rapid onto material. (crash.) or it will go to position to begin cut and then Z axis plus direction until it hit stop. Then rapid onto material. (crash.)
I have rebooted at least a dozen times reloaded easel and the problem still there
Tried different part programs and it still has issue

Hi Tom,

I DO NOT want to pretend to be an expert. So please listen to others who have been doing this far longer than I. There are likely many things that need to be checked on the software side of things before assuming that it is a hardware issue, but I experienced many VERY strange things over the past year and a half since setting up my machine - INCLUDING similar to what you have described. I found that I had to reboot several times EVERY time I tried to do anything. I had the spindle crash down into the workpiece, I’ve had the gantry SLAM against the stops as it tried to FLY out of my shop. The list goes on. All sorts of CRAZY stuff. At one point I started to think that I need a priest to come do an exorcism ;-).

Then one day in December, about 7/8ths of the way through multiple Christmas presents, it just quit. Refused to connect to the computer.

Long story short, I had a friend who had been suggesting that my problems were hardware related NOT software, came down to the shop. After some testing, we discovered that pin #8 in the CAT-5 jumper wire inside the control bx was bad. $7.99 from Amazon later, and I was back up and running, and have not experienced a problem since.

Again, PLEASE follow the advice of those smarter/more experienced than I FIRST, but if you keep having CRAZY inexplicable things happen, MAYBE it is a hardware issue.

All my best,

Joe

I will check that because something else weird happened today that was scary.
I ren a different program and it seemed to be doing OK but when i hit feed hold it headed north on Z again and that leads to the crash. Thank for the tip I appreciate it.
