1/2" collet

Is there a VFD spindle available that accepts a 1/2" shank cutter and will also fit on the Xcarve? Or is there another option to upgrade to a 1/2" collet?

I have a collection of 1/2" shank cutters that I would like to use. I am considering upgrading to a VFD spindle if I can find one with a 1/2" collet. I considered upgrading to the SuperPID for my 611 but then again I am still stuck with a 1/4" collet. I am really wanting an option that can accept 1/2" shafts bc replacing all of my cutters with 1/4" replacements is going to cost several hundreds of dollars. So if I have to invest somewhere, then might as well try to upgrade to a 1/2" collet.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I run 1/2" bits on my 1000x1000 machine. I use the Hitachi 12vc router and collets from Precise Bits. This machine has x and y rigidity mods and a larger (Triple Stack) Nema 24 motor on the z. Works great.

Hitachi 12vc is AWESOME!

My x-carve is finally all that I hoped it would be. The Hitachi EATS and allows the use of 1/2" end mills (in a 1/2" collet). Here are pictures. I used 1/4" aluminum plate, three sets of v-wheels along with easy to accomplish rigidity modifications. I planned to upgrade to larger steppers, but I really don’t think it is necessary.
